Demo Overview Hello and welcome to the Demo Team! So, what are demos? Demo sessions are demonstration lessons in which you show your expertise to potential clients. It is a free lesson to try before they buy. Demos are not that different from regular sessions. You can think of them like a condense version of regular sessions. Your goal in inspiring students to learn is still the same! How do you prepare for teaching demo’s? Preparation is the key. You can see all the lessons in advance. The more you prepare by getting props ready and familiarizing yourself with the material, the easier the lesson will be. What will the students be like? Demo lessons are available for both juniors and adults. Usually the client is incredibly nervous. So, our job includes putting the client at ease, as well as giving them a fantastic lesson. Your training will include two parts: The Training Kit (this package that you are reading right now) and a Live Demo Training Session. You need to fully complete both. Step 1: The Training Kit is divided into three sections. 1. What are demos? 2.Important Information 3. Teaching Demo’s Step 2: Book a Live Demo Session with one of our Demo Trainer. They will share with you their teaching experience and guide you in teaching to get you prepared. Who are the Demo Trainers? Demo Trainers are experienced Demo teachers. They also have consistently good signups. They will share with you all their tips and tricks to ensuring a smooth demo experience and to help you get signups.

Part 3: Teaching Most Consultants find the most challenging aspect of teaching is grasping the attention of low level beginners, especially that of juniors. One trick we found extremely effective is to give a star during the introduction right after the student says their name. This will introduce them to the star reward and they will look forward to in the session. Distribute the stars evenly throughout your session and interchange it with the clapping sound effect or the Oxford stickers. Once you see the student’s attention wandering away, give them a star at an appropriate timing to catch their attention again. For adults, the "thumps-up likes" are the same concept. Another trick with keeping kids focused is to connect all parts of the session into a story. When you move from the introduction into the main topic, you can do it with a transition such as "Today, we are going to the zoo! Let's learn about animals!" or "Let's go shopping at the grocery store!" A story is always fun to hear and this will also help you maintain the flow of your session. We will go more into detail in this section: we will first discuss some general tips and what to avoid doing in sessions. Then, we will show you four video clips. The first three will be on teaching young students of the respective age groups: 3-5 year olds, 6-8 year olds and 9-12 year olds. The last video will focus on the functions of ManyCam and how to incorporate its features into your teaching. These tips are just some very basic guidelines in teaching. Each person is unique in their own way and how we learn effectively is quite different, too. The same goes with teaching! To find your own teaching style, think back on a learning experience that you enjoyed and try to duplicate that process or feeling the session gave you in your own sessions. Now, let's take a look at what to pay attention to!

Part 4: Material Currently, there are 3 types of material. For juniors, there is 15-min Jr material, and the Jr Dynamic 25-min material that assigns a specific topic to each level, the teacher can adjust the levels in the classroom while teaching. The materials for junior demo sessions are in the Practice Room>>Dynamic Practice Room>>Junior Demo Level 1-9. For adults, the demo material is also in the practice room. Practice Room>>Dynamic Practice Room>>Adult Demo For either type of material, the session structure remains the same: introduction, teaching, review and closing and then fill the level placement report. No matter which type of material you use, the backbone of teaching will be guiding the student in building their English level word by word, phrase by phrase and then sentence by sentence. The process of learning a language is like going from dot to dot, stringing the dots together to create lines and using these lines to create shapes and drawings. No matter whether you teach junior demos or adult demos, uploading your own material is not suggested. In this last section of the study material, we will discuss separately on using both types of material and then there will be teaching example videos for each level of the dynamic material.

Part 5: Practice Room Know where to find and get prepared for the junior and adult demos.

Level Placement and Report Filling (15-min Demo) After exiting the session, please fill in the level placement (LVP) report in 3-5minutes. A complete report indicates that you... 1. Have taught the full length of the demo session. 2. Are able to determine the student's English proficiency level. For a complete report, you will have to fill in the following: 1. Overall level 2. Level for grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, reading and speaking. (Please be aware that... For Level 1, please rate the student's strength accordingly. For Level 2 and 3, only THREE strengths can be rated the same level. For Level 4 and above, only TWO strengths can be rated the same level.) 3. Suggestions: a message to the student on what they did well and what they need to work on to improve their English ability. We strongly recommend you to create your own templates for each level, so you can save some time in completing the report. This is a rough description of each level. There will be a detailed chart on each level strength below. Please be familiar with the criteria and be as accurate as possible when you fill in the reports. Junior Report Example: Adult Level Placement: Adult Report Example: Session Incomplete: Please submit the Incomplete Report when the session is not completed. If the client is no show or leaving abruptly in the session, please wait at least 5 minutes in the classroom with your camera on, then fill the Incomplete Report before you leave. Click the video to see how to place the level for students.

Report Filling (25-min Demo) In 25-min demos there two kinds of reports that required to be done immediately in 3-5 minutes after the session. The In-Session Report and Progress Report. 1. Session Incomplete If you fail to finish the session, you need to fill the session Incomplete Report. When the client is no show or leaving abruptly in the session, please sit in the session for 25 minutes until it is finished, then submit the Incomplete Report before you leave.
